Leanne L. Burns, PT, MPT, PHom has over 35 years experience in Physical Therapy. She received her undergraduate degree in Biomechanics / Movement Science from Western Washington University where she was active in gait and sports analysis research. She then received her commission in the US Army to attend the US Army Baylor Physical Therapy Program where she graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 1986. In 2020, she discovered Practical Homeopathy and began self study, online courses, and community care. She was accepted to the Academy of Practical Homeopathy in 2021 and graduated in the Fall of 2022. She currently serves as a Study Group Advisor in the class of 2023.
Homeopathy History:
Graduate, Academy of Practical Homeopathy 2021-2022. Leanne continued to assist members of the community while in the Academy gaining great experience in acute URIs. During this time she presented several classes, “Household Homeopathy,” to spark medical autonomy and create access to self-treatment. Audiences included a class of health care providers. In January of 2022, she launched Homeopathic Health Solutions, LLC, and opened her remedy shop to provide access to varied potencies and remedies of the Banerji protocols to rural Eastern NC. She provides consultations two days per week (see below–still working as a physical therapist and business owner). She regularly speaks to Gateway students and makes herself available for Q and A sessions for local groups only.
Homeopathy is a daily conversation at her other business, Axis Physical Therapy, where employees are seeing the effects of homeopathy in many other areas of healthcare. Paradigms are changing!
Leanne happily dry needles acupuncturists, provides remedies to Pharmacists & their families, recommends homeopathy to MDs & their spouses (they take it!), and performs spinal manipulations on chiropractors.
PT History:
After five years treating acute orthopedic injuries, providing injury prevention training to recruits, and managing stress fractures in the military (US Army), Leanne began working in the civilian sector in outpatient orthopedics. As with her Army training, Leanne began providing biomechanics training and injury prevention for the general public and industry. Leanne teaches a behavorial-based Back School, Neck-Arm School, and “Bellies, Bottoms, and Backs” (pregnancy back school). In the community, she has been a guest speaker for ergonomics, workplace safety, and for osteoporosis education.
In addition, Leanne is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS), performing Work Risk Analysis and Ergonomic training for local and state industries. (To include Mine Safety Appliances, Samaritan’s Purse, Coastal Carolina Community College, Office Park Eye Care Center, Holly Ridge Foods, ConAgra Foods, Stanadyne, Onslow County Govt., Dental Hygiene Club)
Leanne treats a wide variety of physical therapy clients including general orthopedic patients, TMJ dysfunctions, Osteoporosis, and BPPV. Her clinical passion is in evaluation / treatment of the sacroiliac joint and hip region. A close second is post-operative conditions of the knee and shoulder. She is highly skilled with years of experience in the application of manual therapy techniques including Spinal Manipulation, Strain and Counterstrain and the Hesch Method for treating Lumbopelvic-Hip dysfunctions. She is a certified “Rock Doc” and is practiced in applying Fascial Movement Taping using Rock Tape kinesiology tape and is a Certified Dry Needling Practitioner through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy.
Leanne has worked in Jacksonville since 1992; she became partner in The Physical Therapy Clinic, Inc. in 1994 (now Axis Physical Therapy), and then full owner in 1996. She served on the Jacksonville-Onslow Small Business Council for over 10 years leading the development of the Small Business Code of Ethics in 2002. She is passionate about healthcare enrichment and community improvement in Onslow County. In 2006 she was named the Small Business Person of the Year by Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce.
In her leisure hours, she enjoys time with family hiking, boating, skiing, kayaking, reading, and running. Other hobbies: Growing greens with the Kratky method and freeze-drying food. She loves homeschooling her son and hunting shark teeth. You might also find her at a disc golf course on weekends.
